On September 16–17, 2025, the IMPULSE Project organized a two-day hybrid pre-hackathon workshop hosted by the University of Malta and Heritage Malta, uniting educators, students, developers, and artists. Together, we embarked on a mission to redefine how we engage with cultural heritage through innovative digital experiences.
The workshop marked the launch of the prototyping phase for the IMPULSE Project, focusing on extending the capabilities of existing software libraries and components. Our goal? To create immersive virtual environments that foster rich interaction with heritage content and vibrant social engagement among participants.
The pre-hackathon showcased the transformative power of collaboration. Diverse teams came together shaping fresh perspectives for the future of digital cultural heritage. Among the achievements:
3D Viewer Integration: Participants experimented with an integrated 3D viewer, unlocking new ways to engage with cultural heritage assets in IMPULSE collection
First Test of the Multi-User Virtual World Platform: A step forward in developing IMPULSE platform to enable collaborative creation using digital heritage assets, fostering real-time interaction and co-creation.
