IMPULSE Multi-User Virtual Environment
The IMPULSE Platform is a collaborative multi-user virtual environment (MUVE) platform developed within the framework of the Horizon Europe project IMPULSE – IMmersive digitisation: uPcycling cULtural heritage towards new reviving StratEgies. The platform has been designed to support new forms of engagement with digitised cultural heritage through immersive, social and co-creative experiences within virtual worlds.
The platform enables users to collaboratively explore, create and interact within persistent virtual worlds using digitised cultural heritage collections and assets. It combines a web-based management environment with a virtual world client, allowing users to manage collections, assets, worlds and user roles, while simultaneously supporting collaborative creation and interaction within immersive virtual environments through the corresponding virtual world client.
Designed as a social and collaborative immersive environment, the platform supports:
- collaborative artistic, educational and research-oriented experimentation within multi-user virtual environments
- synchronous multi-user co-creation within virtual environments,
- integration, management and creative reuse of digitised cultural heritage assets and collections,
- immersive storytelling, spatial narratives and virtual world compositions.
Currently, the platform is available for testing at IMPULSE events by invitation only.
